Come, Come Ye Saints
I was thinking about this hymn as we were riding the train to church this morning and all of the saints who immigrated from England to the U.S. to be able to move to Utah and be members of the church. I am always in such of the pioneers and their amazing strength and courage to live the gospel to the best they could. Church today was wonderful! Strangely I am for once a minority. Our ward is probably 90 to 95 percent African with very few White Britain's. We are in the Mitchum ward in the Wandsworth stake. It was Fast Sunday so the bishop asked us to bear our testimonies. We gladly did and were so blessed to hear the testimonies of the ward members. Two adult converts were confirmed members of the church today and bore beautiful testimonies. There was such a great spirit and you could see the happiness inside them. We don't have callings yet, but a couple other girls and I are teaching primary next week, so I have the feeling we will live out our next six Sundays in the Primary of our ward. The little girls played with my hair and told me I looked like their Barbie. I am one of three white people in the primary and the other two are BYU girls with me! And I am the only one with Blonde hair, so they brushed away with their little Barbie brushes. Hopefully my hair will still be in tact when i leave ;) However, the children are adorable and so sweet. I was so impressed with all of the songs they knew and loved to sing. I am excited to learn about the gospel with them while I am here! The entire ward was so welcoming and it will be an adventure, but I am so grateful for the chance to go to their ward while I am here. It is so comforting to know that the gospel is the same everywhere you go. The principles and ordinances never change and you can feel the spirit wherever you go to church. That is one of the things I love most about the gospel!
